Requirements

To be admitted to Valley Grande Institute the following documents are required:

  • Driver's License or Identification Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Social Security Card
  • TB Shot & Hepatitis B Shot
  • Income Tax Return
  • Additional Requirements for Allied Health:

    Students will be charged a fee for a criminal background check.

    For admission to the Program:

    • Submt an application to Admissions
    • Meet with Financial Aid Department. Bring the following documents:
      • Income Tax Return
      • Valid Drivers License
      • High School Diploma or GED certificate
      • Birth Certificate
      • Social Security Card
      • Immunization Records (TB must be within 1 year of admission, Hepatitis B series must be completd
        {3 injections or have proof of titer})
    • A tour of the school is given at the time of registration.
    • Clinicals / Externship are done during the day only. Student will be released to clinicals / externship only if:
      • all of the required documents are on file with the registrar, and / or;
      • Immunization record showing the TB test and Hepatitis B immunizations are up to date.

    Additional Requirements for Vocational Nursing:

    Prospective students are required to be one of the following:

    • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
    • Emergency Medical Tech (EMT)
    • Surgical Tech
    • Patient Care Tech

    All certifications and licenses from above must be active.

    Prospective students must have at least 3 months or more work experience in whichever field you are certified in.

    Each student accepted into the program must have completed and received a Clear Background check from the Board of Nursing. The cost of this is the student's responsibility.

    The prospective students are required to:

    • Take an entrance exam and pass it with 50% or higher
      • Cost is $55. A debit or credit card must be presented at the time of the testing.
      • The test consists of:
        • English
        • Math
        • Science
        • Reading Comprehension
      • Study guide for exam cost is $55 (Debit / Credit or Cash).
    • A background check and fingerprinting are required by the Board of Nursing. The student bears the cost of this background check. A cleared background check is required for entry into the program.
    • Interviews:
      • Preliminary interview and
      • An interview by the VN committee.
